B.E. Meyers Introduces the IZLID® Ultra, a Compact and Lightweight 1-Watt IR Laser for Long-Range Target Marking and Illumination

B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. ~ October 2, 2009,
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--B.E. Meyers announces the new IZLID® Ultra infrared (IR) pointing and illuminating laser. The IZLID Ultra packs a full watt of laser power into a compact, lightweight package that is ideal for signaling aircraft and marking targets at night. Its ultra-bright IR beam allows the laser to visually communicate with high altitude aircraft and can cut through tough night-vision conditions such as rain, fog, dust and high ambient lighting conditions. The new IZLID Ultra offers the same long-range superiority as B.E. Meyers’ renowned IZLID® 1000, but in a significantly smaller housing with less than half the weight. Now, even soldiers equipped with small arms can have immediate, long-range pointing and illuminating capabilities with the IZLID Ultra mounted to their weapon.
As with all IZLID® products, the IZLID® Ultra offers excellent performance characteristics and rugged design for reliability under battlefield conditions. The continuously adjustable zoom between narrow (pointer) and wide (illuminator) equips the warfighter with the right tool for nighttime operations. The IZLID Ultra produces a one-watt IR beam for long-range pointing, while less-powerful lasers fade into the background. Targets can be clearly marked out to 43 km, leaving no room for ambiguity. “Our customers rave about the tremendous power of the IZLID 1000 to communicate with fast-moving aircraft,” says Bruce Westcoat, Vice President of Business Development. “We challenged our engineers to develop a smaller laser with the same long-range capabilities, and they exceeded our goals. The new IZLID Ultra is significantly more compact and 60% lighter than the IZLID 1000.”
