B.E. Meyers & Co., Inc. ~ October 2, 2009,
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--B.E. Meyers announces the new GLARE® MOUT Plus visual disruption laser® that raises the bar for ground force non-lethal lasers. This new laser is based upon the highly successful GLARE® MOUT that has become the standard non-lethal laser used at vehicle checkpoints in Operation Enduring Freedom. The new GLARE MOUT Plus is equipped with variable power settings, including a training mode, and is operational over a wide temperature range. Low temperature compatibility is essential for forces transitioning from desert to mountainous conditions. These features are packed into a rugged, waterproof housing that is even smaller and lighter than its predecessor.
GLARE® lasers meet critical first-stage escalation of force (EOF) requirements by providing a clear visual signal to bystanders and combatants alike. The glaring green beam sends an obvious message to halt or move away. At closer distances, the laser output can temporarily disrupt the vision of an approaching enemy, causing difficulty in driving a vehicle or firing a weapon. In theater, GLARE lasers have been proven to save lives of both civilians and soldiers by providing a rapid warning method across cultural and linguistic barriers. GLARE lasers are effective both night and day for “hail & warning” as well as for visual disruption. “Soldiers and Marines who have used our GLARE MOUT have been highly satisfied because the laser saves lives,” notes Bruce Westcoat, Vice President of Business Development. “Anticipating the transition from Iraq to Afghanistan, the GLARE MOUT Plus will now meet the demands of a more diverse environment to provide soldiers with the right equipment for their escalation of force needs.”
