Final Assembly for S-70i(TM) BLACK HAWK Helicopter Begins at PZL Mielec

KIELCE, Poland, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MSPO -- PZL Mielec, a Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. company in Poland, has begun final assembly of the first S-70i(TM) BLACK HAWK helicopter. The production marks the beginning of a new helicopter in the Sikorsky product line, an international variant of the BLACK HAWK helicopter. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX - News).
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060403/SIKORSKYLOGO )
Final assembly officially began on Aug. 17. The first S-70i helicopter is expected to be completed in 2010.
Meanwhile, PZL Mielec continues to ramp up production of BLACK HAWK helicopter cabins. Four cabins have been completed to date. Three have been incorporated into the UH-60M helicopter assembly line at Sikorsky's main manufacturing facility in the U.S. The fourth cabin has been joined with other dynamic components as PZL prepares to build the first S-70i(TM) helicopter.
"The startup of the production line in Poland is a defining moment for the S-70i helicopter program," said Bob Kokorda, Sikorsky Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Synergy. "This platform will accommodate customer demand with an affordable, capable, and adaptable aircraft that remains true to the BLACK HAWK helicopter's legendary combat-proven heritage. Now, this proven, dependable aircraft will extend its capabilities to customers around the world, bringing robust performance and the latest in rotorcraft technology."
Kokorda reaffirmed the vital role of PZL Mielec in Sikorsky's expansion plans in Central and Eastern Europe during a briefing held at the XVII International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO).
To increase its presence in the international marketplace, Sikorsky has designated PZL Mielec as a final assembly center for the S-70i BLACK HAWK helicopter. Production of highly-advanced and combat-proven BLACK HAWK helicopters and cabins in PZL Mielec is expected to provide opportunities to numerous privately- and publicly-held Polish aviation entities. Currently PZL Mielec already cooperates with 23 suppliers and subcontractors in Poland; that figure is expected to increase to about 100 in the foreseeable future, as the work progresses.
The S-70i BLACK HAWK helicopter will be produced through a cost-effective global supply chain and is planned to be delivered directly from Poland to international customers. A key competitive feature of the Polish-made S-70i BLACK HAWK helicopter is that it will provide multi-mission, 10-ton utility lift capability at a price comparable to helicopters in the 6-to-8-ton class.
The S-70i helicopter is designed with a modular platform that can be configured to meet specific customer requirements. Its standard baseline configuration includes the latest technology with fully-developed advanced features such as:
A fully-integrated digital glass cockpit that is instrument flight rules (IFR)-capable, a dual digital automatic flight control system (AFCS) and coupled flight director
An active vibration control system to smooth the overall ride of the aircraft and improve the life cycle of air vehicle and dynamic system components
A dual GPS/INS (global positioning system/inertial navigation system) with digital map to provide accurate and redundant navigation for the most demanding of tactical environments
"Since PZL Mielec was acquired on March 16, 2007, Sikorsky has delivered on each of its broad commitments to the Government of Poland and its employees. The company has invested millions of dollars in fixed assets, environmental remediation, human resources training and transfer of technical expertise. In addition, the company has initiated a broad social package for PZL Mielec employees," said Janusz Zakrecki, CEO of PZL Mielec.
Since the acquisition, employment at PZL Mielec has increased by 22 percent, from an initial level of 1,471 employees to 1,800 full-time personnel. Also, groundbreaking is scheduled soon for a new European Union-funded vocational training facility that will educate more than 200 students per year for PZL Mielec.
Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., based in Stratford, Conn., USA, is a world leader in helicopter design, manufacture and service. LOCiMOBILE, Inc. Launches Its New iLOCi2(TM) iPhone App International Version 1.2 -- Initially Localized in French and Spanish, With Plans to Add More

LOCiMOBILE, Inc. Launches Its New iLOCi2(TM) iPhone App International Version 1.2 -- Initially Localized in French and Spanish, With Plans to Add More Languages -- The App Is Now Available at All 60 International iTunes App Stores
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - 09/01/09)LOCiMOBILE, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of GTX Corp (OTC.BB:GTXO - News), has launched its new iLOCi2(TM) iPhone App International Version 1.2 -- initially in French and Spanish -- to easily locate and connect with others at the push of a button with total privacy. An upgrade to the previous version, which launched in mid July and featured on the Good Morning America Show, version 1.2 also provides better GPS accuracy, a GPS signal strength indicator, easily adds iLOCi2 contacts directly from your contact list and from another user's LOCi request.
60 international App Stores -- with year to date sales of 11.3M iPhones -- support the iLOCi2 App in a diverse multicultural marketplace. In just eight months LOCiMOBILE has leaped from a white-board concept to a global transactional franchise. iLOCi2 has been localized for the French market where Apple has sold one million iPhones and in Spanish as well, however daily downloads for the Apps are now coming from the US and a growing International list including: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Spain, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, South Africa and the U.K. A total of 34 countries to date have participated in this quintessential international e-commerce with one to three new countries coming online and downloading daily. Discussions to further expand the LOCiMOBILE footprint are underway to localize the iLOCi2 App for China. China Unicom will be selling iPhones in Q4 to its current 133M subscribers, a portion of the 650M total mobile phone subscriber base of China. A reported 1.5M unlocked iPhones are already currently in use and the company is monitoring this new potential market very closely.
"Since Apple launched and introduced the iTunes stores the mobile industry has rushed to embrace the sale of applications. iSuppli estimates that in Q1 2010, Apple's share of revenue from the sale of applications developed for the iPhone is expected to be $200 million, but that the greater part of the revenue -- 70% -- will go to the developers. As an application developer, LOCiMOBILE represents the premium App based services like off-board navigation and PLS which are in great demand."
The App Store will carry more than 100K apps by the end of the year, an inventory selection greater than the world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart, which merchandises about 100K items per store. Smartphone downloads from all App Stores will reach 6.67 billion per year in 2014, according to a new forecast issued by market research firm Frost & Sullivan. But that is not the whole story. The true impact will be realized as we penetrate and begin conducting real time transactions globally with an installed iPhone/iPod user base of 37 million... and growing.
GTX Corp has a 7 year history in customizable, patented 2-way GPS Personal Location Services (PLS) solutions and approached the development of iLOCi2 from the perspective of ease of use, privacy and how to best deliver a people-finding solution to millions across the world at an affordable price. The answer was, "We can make an App for that."
"Personal Location Awareness provides connectedness which knows no borders technically or geographically," said Patrick Bertagna, CEO of GTX Corp. "LOCiMOBILE is a brand in motion and we are actively researching and developing for the future. With 3 Apps on the market now and our fourth in the submission process, we are very excited about what the future holds for us in this new global market place we call the App Frontier."

Global Engineering Consultancy Atkins Achieves Significant Increases in Productivity Leveraging HyperWorks Simulation Platform

HyperWorks CAE modelling, visualization and optimization tools reduce project timescales, allowing Atkins to improve service to aerospace OEM clients
TROY, Mich., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services that empowers client innovation and decision-making, announced today, that international engineering and design consultancy Atkins has selected HyperWorks' pre- and post-processing solutions, HyperMesh and HyperView as standard tools for future design projects. The decision follows measured business benefits from the suite including productivity and efficiency gains, the flexible business model and a common platform for supporting Atkins' multi-solver environment.
"The majority of cost incurred when performing finite element (FE) analysis is during the initial model-generation phase, so reducing the amount of time spent at this stage is extremely valuable to us and our clients," said Jon Gittoes, FE team leader at Atkins. "Basically it comes down to minimising the time it takes to get from initial geometry to a working model, and that's what HyperMesh does so well. HyperMesh has excellent geometry idealization, which significantly improves our design efficiency and has a large impact on the overall project timescales."
As a leader in engineering and design consultation to the aerospace market, Atkins is an approved supplier to leading international aerospace OEMs. Atkins' recent project work includes aircraft heavy landing and bird-strike analysis for Airbus, Rolls-Royce gas turbines development and even the 1000mph BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car project. The efficiencies of the HyperWorks suite have played an important part in helping Atkins deliver successful projects to its global client base.
"The continuing trend towards composite materials and non-linear analysis is significantly increasing the complexity of analysis pre- and post-processing. Using a common tool to build models for a variety of analysis codes allows our engineers to work on a wide variety of projects," Mr. Gittoes added. "We are using HyperWorks to investigate problems as varied as the design of turbomachinery transmission test rigs, assessing aircraft heavy landings and the concept design of the BLOODHOUND SSC. HyperWorks has the features that we need to develop and manage large models, which is particularly important for our non-linear impact work."
"Altair's customer support team have also helped us integrate HyperWorks into our existing design processes and quickly train our engineers," Mr. Gittoes noted. "The Altair support team regularly visits and helps solve any of our technical issues. The most important advantage HyperWorks has given us is the flexibility to meet our clients' needs. Whether that's in terms of their timescales or in using the most appropriate solver code, it's really about being able to deliver the results our clients need, when they need them."
In addition to HyperMesh and HyperView, Atkins has successfully deployed HyperWorks' optimization solution, OptiStruct, in the BLOODHOUND SSC project with excellent results. The technology is now being assessed broadly across Atkins' aerospace projects to minimize material usage and component weight.

Suspect Detection Systems Inc. Signs 7-Digit (USD) Contract to Install Cogito System at a National Border Crossing

PETAH TIKVA, Israel, September 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Suspect Detection Systems Inc., (SDSS.OB), a leading developer of counter-terror and crime prevention technology, announced today that a 7-digit contract has been signed with a Federal Agency in a major country to deploy the Cogito(TM) rapid interrogation system along a major national border.
Cogito will be used to interrogate potential suspects seeking entry into the country at a specific point of entry. Few Cogito units will be installed at the border crossing, along with the full installation of the Cogito Central Database and Management System (CDMS) which stores all data collected by each of the units.
The system is currently being customized to interrogate potential suspects in few languages. The CDMS control and manage all the Cogito units in real time and can analyze the biometric information and test result collected in the database.
"Our system was designed specifically to aid in the apprehension of terrorists and criminals at border crossings," said Shabtai Shoval, CEO of Suspect Detection Systems Ltd. "We have worked tirelessly to develop a comprehensive system that can accurately identify suspects at any time of day or night, without the aid of experienced interrogators. We are confident that Cogito will contribute to a safer, less porous border."
Cogito is an automated interrogation system that is used to accurately detect the hostile intent of suspected criminals and terrorists in just five to seven minutes. The system was designed under the concept that the most dangerous weapon a suspect will carry is his or her intent to commit a destructive act
Cogito can easily be deployed to detect terrorists, smugglers and criminals at checkpoints, border crossings, crime scenes, war zones, or in private enterprises.
"Cogito is a powerful tool that can be utilized by any organization with advanced security and crime prevention operations from private enterprises to federal agencies," added Shoval. "The positive feedback we have received from Cogito customers demonstrates the impact of the system on the war against crime."
About Suspect Detection Systems
Suspect Detection Systems Ltd. is a developer of proprietary counter-terror and crime prevention technology designed to identify threats in real-time, and prevent incidents before they are carried out. The technology detects the hidden 'hostile intent' of assailants-before they commit their intended acts-with a remarkable degree of accuracy. The system can also be used after crime was committed to quickly identify criminals from among a pool of suspects.

Sector 10, Inc. Releases PLX-3D Software Demonstration Link

BELLEVUE, Wash., Sept. 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sector 10, Inc. (OTCBB:SECI - News; Frankfurt:4SR - News) announces the release of a demonstration of its PLX-3D software capabilities in video format on its web site.
Web Link: http://www.sector10.com/plx3duifm/default.htm
The Sector 10 PLX-3D software is designed to deliver real time situational awareness in any disaster or emergency. The PLX-3D application and the SRU's or Stationary Response Units deliver a complex yet simple solution to many of the shortcomings that have plagued corporate facilities, business continuity and responders alike.
Sector 10 CEO, Pericles DeAvila stated, "Today, Sector 10 products meet and exceed the 2009 NFPA and International Fire Code requirements. We now have a comprehensive solution that bridges both private and public sectors in a cohesive response system that has eluded us all for years."
Sector 10's products allow the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) to people immediately after an incident happens. The products make it easier to perform floor to floor assessments within high-rises buildings. The PLX-3D system provides the emergency responders a clear view of the building and the ability to perform a clear analysis of the needs of the affected thereby increasing their ability to save lives. Adding this level of communication and tying the emergency response community with the private sector increases the survival capabilities of the victims. Additionally, it gives victims the tools that allow them self-sufficiency before and after the first responders arrive.
A new picture is painted. Not only is there a coordinated effort immediately apparent, but also the availability of needed tools and resources in pre-deployed areas has become essential. In effect, Sector 10's tools reduce the guesswork for the building occupants and provide first responders with additional resources at their command to save lives.
About Sector 10, Inc.
Sector 10, Inc. is redefining the emergency response paradigm from centralized equipment staging to onsite pre-deployed resources. Sector 10 is the only emergency response systems company so strongly emphasizing pre-deployed resources as the way to save lives, avert injuries, reduce liability and to "Bridge the Survival Gap." http://www.sector10inc.com

DRS Technologies Moves From Fifth to First in Core Infrared-Imaging Technology

PARSIPPANY, NJ--(Marketwire - 09/01/09) - DRS Technologies, Inc. announced today it has become the world's number one supplier of uncooled infrared focal plane arrays (FPAs), jumping from fifth position in 2006, according to a new report by leading industry analyst Maxtech International, Inc. of Fairfield, Connecticut.
Uncooled FPAs are the core sensor technology found in critical equipment of soldiers on the battlefield such as thermal weapon sights, handheld thermal imaging cameras and Driver's Vision Enhancers (DVE). This technology enables the operator to penetrate battlefield smoke, dust, sand and fog across great distances in even the most extreme environments -- Day or Night.
"This achievement was to some extent a matter of being in the right place, with the right products, at the right time," said Chris Wright, senior vice president of Business Development for the Reconnaissance, Surveillance & Target Acquisition (RSTA) business group of DRS Technologies. "The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have fueled the demand for uncooled infrared-imaging devices such as Thermal Weapon Sights and Driver's Vision Enhancers. We were able to capture key U.S. military contracts for these products -- and in the case of the DVEs -- the sole supplier for the largest U.S. Army DVE program of record. These awards have been instrumental in propelling us from fifth to first."
Wright also attributes this success to DRS leadership, who realized early on that advanced uncooled FPA technology would proliferate if it could be made both affordable and reliable. "As a result, we've made significant capital investments in our detector technologies since 2007, including the expansion of our Dallas, Texas-based wafer fabrication, assembly and production capabilities. In addition, we have accelerated the development and fabrication of next-generation detector technologies. These initiatives have resulted in an increase of our production staff to meet the soaring demand for our detector modules," stated Wright.
DRS' management of these contracts has been equally important to the company's climb to the top of the market-share rankings, said Maxtech International's Gabor F. Fulop, Ph.D. "This company has done a wonderful job of developing electro-optical technologies and scaling up the manufacturing processes to address the needs of today's military users," Dr. Fulop said.
"We are proud of the role our technologies play in supporting the warfighter, as they detect and counter threats that can't be seen by the naked eye," said Terry Murphy, president of RSTA. "These products help save lives and help achieve the military's mission objectives. These are priorities we jointly share with our customer."
DRS Technologies, headquartered in Parsippany, NJ, is a leading supplier of integrated products, services and support to military forces, intelligence agencies and prime contractors worldwide. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A. (FNC.MI) which employs more than 73,000 people worldwide. Advanced Radiological Measurement Technology From MACTEC Deployed at NASA Reactor Facility

ALPHARETTA, Ga., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology developed by MACTEC Development Corporation (MDC) to assay radiologically impacted soils is being used at a NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) decommissioned reactor facility. Ann E. Massey, President and Chief Executive Officer of MACTEC, Inc. and President of MDC, made the announcement. MDC is MACTEC's construction entity focusing on decontamination, demolition, remediation, radiological engineering, and risk management services.
MACTEC's ORION Soil Sorting System, which deploys advanced scanning spectrometer technology, is providing soil measurement and sorting services at the Plum Brook Reactor Facility in Sandusky, OH. ORION is a conveyor-based soil handling system that surveys and monitors excavated soils at high throughput rates.
During its operations, the 60-megawatt Plum Brook Reactor conducted over 70 experiments, most of which studied the effects of radiation on various materials. The reactor was closed down in 1973 and was placed into a "safe dry storage" mode, during which it was monitored by NASA until initial decommissioning work began in 1998.
According to MACTEC Vice President/Director of Radiological Services Steve Rima, ORION is expected to reduce the volume of radioactive waste by up to 90 percent compared to simply excavating it and disposing of it as radioactive waste.
"This will amount to a potential cost savings to NASA of millions of dollars," said Rima. "Faster processing will reduce the project schedule. Accurate monitoring also reduces waste and saves shipping and burial charges."
Rima added that soil to be processed will be from the facility's hot retention basin shielding, an emergency retention basin dike, cold retention basins, storm drains, and other buried piping, foundations and underground storage tanks.
"We anticipate assay and segregation quantities in excess of 50 million pounds of soil into material that can either stay on site for use as backfill (less than 1/2 of the release limit for Cesium-137 in soil) or shipped offsite for disposal," said Rima.
MACTEC (www.mactec.com), based in Alpharetta, GA, is a leading infrastructure engineering firm focused on five strategic business lines: Industrial/Commercial, Transportation, Municipal, Energy, and Federal. With annual revenues over $490 million, MACTEC's 3,000-plus employees work from over 80 offices nationwide. MACTEC consistently ranks in the top 10% of Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms.
