Integral Systems to Provide Satellite Signal Monitoring and Interference Detection and Analysis to AR-SAT

Family of Solution Providers

Monics(R) System From SAT Corporation Will Support AR-SAT'S CSM Monitoring Requirements for the ARSAT-1 Satellite, the First Communications Satellite Designed and Manufactured in Argentina

Defense News: SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 18, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --SAT Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Integral Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:ISYS - News), today announced that it has been chosen by Argentina's Empresa Argentina de Soluciones Satelitales (AR-SAT) to provide Satellite Monitoring and Interference Detection and Analysis System in support of its ARSAT-1 Satellite and ground stations. Scheduled for launch in 2012, the ARSAT-1 Satellite will be the first communications satellite designed and manufactured in Argentina.

Under the terms of the contract, SAT Corporation, supported by its sister company Integral Systems Europe UK, will also provide a set of Ku Band and C Band CSM service antennas for ground stations located in Benavidez and Bosque Alegre, Argentina. In addition to ARSAT-1, AR-SAT plans to build and launch a fleet of two additional Satellites.

Utilizing SAT Corporation's Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology, Monics is a state of the art radio frequency monitoring system that will provide automatic monitoring of AR-SAT's carriers. The System provides carrier monitoring and interference detection in a fraction of the time of a classic spectrum analyzer. In addition, Monics' unique algorithms automatically detect, characterize, and display interfering signals, and allow results to be viewed at any time.

"We are pleased AR-SAT has selected SAT Corporation to support their requirement for Carrier Monitoring and Interference Detection an Analysis for their fleet of ARSAT Satellites," said Bob Potter, president of SAT Corporation. "Our strong position in the industry and our ability to address the South American Satellite Market, allows us to partner with companies like AR-SAT to provide a system that achieves their extremely high operational efficiency goals."

Viking Modular Solutions(TM) and Shocking Technologies Deliver ESD Protected Solid State Solutions

End-To-End Solutions

Defense News: FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., March 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Viking Modular Solutions™, a division of Sanmina-SCI Corporation (Nasdaq:SANM - News), and leading manufacturer of innovative memory and flash solutions, today announced availability of its first product featuring Shocking Technologies Xstatic™ Voltage Switchable Dielectric (VSD™) polymer material that protects electronic components from harmful electrostatic discharge (ESD).

"We are extremely proud of the work we have done with Shocking Technologies and look forward to delivering a family of ESD protected Viking Modular Solutions products," stated Adrian Proctor, Vice President of Marketing for Viking Modular Solutions. "ESD is a major threat to any electronic product and we believe this technology will provide customers with a level of data security never seen before."

The CompactFlash® card from Viking Modular Solutions can withstand 30KV per the IEC 61004-2 test required for CompactFlash cards. It then takes a further step by increasing direct pin contact discharge protection to 19KV HBM (level 4 semiconductor protection), eight times the level of a standard CompactFlash card. This Viking Modular Solutions ESD protected CompactFlash card is a product deriving from initial development work at Sanmina-SCI and incubation from Shocking Technologies.

"It's exciting to see our technology being introduced to the world by our partner Sanmina-SCI and its Modular Solutions division," said Lex Kosowsky, President and CEO of Shocking Technologies. "While this technology will proliferate through the industry, from solid state flash drives to cell phones, it is truly fitting that Viking Modular Solutions will be the first to lead the industry in bringing this new ESD technology to market."

ESD is a serious issue in solid state electronics, whereby the semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs) material can suffer permanent damage when subjected to high voltages. The most common and spectacular form of ESD is the "spark," which occurs when a strong electric field creates and ionized conductive channel in the air. This occurrence causes a slight discomfort to people, but will cause severe damage to electronic equipment.

Viking Modular Solutions continues to advance its leadership role by proactively developing and delivering high technology products that optimize the value and performance of its customers' applications in the Network Infrastructure, Embedded, Defense & Aerospace and Enterprise markets.

Federal-Mogul's Electrical/Electronics Systems Protection Portfolio Eliminates Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)

Company's lightweight, flexible and durable shielding products can help automakers reduce electromagnetic interference in vehicles

Defense News: SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As automakers continue to develop vehicles with significantly increased use of electronic controls, there is a growing need to ensure that the electrical/electronics architecture is protected against electromagnetic interference (EMI). Federal-Mogul Corporation (Nasdaq:FDML - News) is a leader in systems protection products for aerospace applications and has recently developed new EMI shielding products for automotive use. EMI is the unintentional generation and reception of electromagnetic disturbances traveling through a circuit or wiring harness that can cause computer-controlled systems to power-up, power-down or create a variety of other unwanted effects. EMI can be blocked using specially designed protective sleeves, thereby preventing the transmission and reception of the disturbance and its negative consequences.

(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh//DE72746-b)

"Federal-Mogul offers a complete range of electromagnetic shielding solutions that ensure EMI events do not adversely affect the function of device control systems or electronic actuators," said Jan Maiden, engineering and sales vice-president, Federal-Mogul Systems Protection Group. The company currently provides EMI shielding solutions to leading U.S. and European commercial aircraft manufacturers and believes this unique expertise is increasingly needed for current and future automotive and commercial vehicle uses, considering the increasing use of hybrid and electric propulsion systems. "The electrical and electronic architectures of vehicles must be properly engineered and that includes proper shielding against EMI," said Maiden.

Federal-Mogul's EMI shielding products feature a specially-designed, braided, tinned, copper wire combined with a proprietary hybrid yarn technology that can be easily installed on existing electrical/electronic architecture used in instrument panels, engine compartments, vehicle interior systems or other electrical and electronic devices. The sleeving is available in tubular and self-wrapping constructions that can be installed during initial harness assembly or after complete vehicle systems are assembled, in the event that an EMI problem is detected and correction is required.

"EMI shielding performance is a function of metal content and metal coverage – the greater the metal content, the better the low-frequency shielding performance. However, increased metal content adds weight and doesn't necessarily shield well at higher frequencies. High-frequency protection occurs when the metal completely covers the wire with a thin conductive layer, meaning there are no pinholes that allow the EMI to leak through." Federal-Mogul's hybrid yarn technology achieves a balance of low- and high-frequency shielding because the metal strands are twisted together with filler yarns, resulting in a high-strength material. "When woven or braided into sleeves, the yarns achieve an optimized blend of metal content and coverage that is lightweight, flexible and durable," Maiden said.

Other shielding techniques, such as foil wrapping or full wire mesh over-braiding are also available in the marketplace, but can limit harness flexibility and increase overall weight, according to Maiden. Federal-Mogul's hybrid polyester and metal wrap solutions offer a nearly 30 percent weight savings over metal overbraids, an approximately 40 percent decrease in bundle diameter and a 55 percent increase in overall flexibility, thus facilitating harness routing inside the vehicle.

Federal-Mogul EMI shielding products are engineered, designed and tested at the company's Systems Protection technical centers in Exton, Pa., USA and Crepy-en-Valois, France, and are sold under the Federal-Mogul and Bentley Harris brand names.
