This milestone represents the first time a Morpho Detection ETD solution has been accepted by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. First certified by the TSA in July 2009, the Itemiser DX utilizes Ion Trap Mobility Spectroscopy (ITMS™) technology to simultaneously analyze both positive and negative ions from a single sample, providing unparalleled threat and contraband detection.

“This designation from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office reflects our core commitment to develop the most advanced and integrated solutions to tackle the world’s toughest security challenges,” said Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc. “We are thrilled to be able to offer this next-generation technology to governments, transportation hubs, cargo facilities and secure locations around the world. By quickly and accurately identifying traces of potential explosive materials, the Itemiser DX offers the capabilities needed to protect the most sensitive locations.”

“The strategic advantage Itemiser DX will provide is important to meeting the security challenges faced in this region,” said Yaron Yezersky, marketing manager, Hypertech Systems Ltd – Morpho Detection’s strategic partner in Israel.

A lightweight, versatile and user-friendly detection unit with a one-hour battery engineered with a built-in handle for hassle-free transportation, the Itemiser DX is now available to protect high-risk facilities and locations around the world.

National Defense Industrial Association Honors Morpho Detection's Deployment of MobileTrace® for U.S. Army

Handheld device helps Army identify explosives and narcotics with field-proven trace technology
Defense News: NEWARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Morpho Detection, Inc., part of the Safran group’s security business, today announced it has been awarded the National Defense Industrial Association’s (NDIA) 2009 Material Release Award for its delivery of the MobileTrace® handheld explosives and narcotics detection system to the U.S. Army.

Morpho Detection was recognized for its “outstanding contribution to the preparedness of the Armed Forces of the United States of America” for its timely delivery of the MobileTrace system. The first simultaneous dual-mode handheld detector, MobileTrace puts advanced technology explosives and narcotics detection in the hands of soldiers where they need it in the field. It also expands the range of target explosives identifiable from a single sample for faster, more comprehensive security screening.

“Morpho Detection is honored to receive this recognition for our work to support the U.S. Armed Forces,” said Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc. “This award is a result of the coordination of two great teams – the U.S. Army and Morpho Detection – that came together to meet the critical technology needs of the armed forces.”

MobileTrace incorporates Morpho Detection’s patented ITMS™ (Ion Trap Mobility Spectrometer), or trace technology into a highly portable device. ITMS explosives and narcotics detection sensitivity and reliability has already been proven in other Morpho Detection trace-based products at military bases, border crossings, airports and other critical security checkpoints around the world. U.S. courts have considered the results of testing with trace technology in drug-related prosecutions.

As America’s leading defense industry association promoting national security, the NDIA provides a forum for the exchange of information between industry and government to foster the development of the most innovative and superior equipment, training and support system for American military personnel.

Morpho Detection Wins TSA Contract for Next-Gen Itemiser® DX Desktop Explosives Detection Systems

First Products to Bear New Morpho Detection Name Destined for Airport Checkpoints Across the United States
Defense News ~ NEWARK, Calif.--February 11, 2010, (BUSINESS WIRE)--Morpho Detection, Inc., a business of Safran group’s Sagem Sécurité division, today announced it has signed a contract with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for several hundred Itemiser® DX explosive trace detection systems (ETD). The contract value is approximately $16 million and was awarded after a competitive contracting process.
The Itemiser DX is the latest trace-based desktop explosive trace detection system to be approved as meeting the demanding detection standards recently established by TSA. The Itemiser DX is the first trace system to simultaneously detect positive and negative ions using a single detector. It delivers fast explosives detection in a desktop package that is reliable, cost effective, and easy to use.
The systems are expected to be deployed to airport checkpoints across the United States to replace and upgrade current units. Morpho Detection’s Itemiser DX system is the company’s first branded product since Sagem Sécurité acquired GE’s Homeland Protection business in September.
“We are especially pleased to have our next-generation Itemiser DX explosive trace detection system chosen by TSA for use at airport checkpoints across the country,” said Dennis Cooke, senior vice president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc.
The Itemiser DX is the most recently approved next-generation explosive trace detection system for use in checked baggage, passenger and cargo screening. The Itemiser DX system has successfully completed qualification testing and operational testing and evaluation. The Itemiser DX system was placed on TSA’s qualified products list for ETD, which contains the products approved for use in checkpoint screening.
Morpho Detection’s contract with TSA was funded, in part, by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Consistent with the ARRA program, this contract will directly help create or maintain U.S. jobs.
