U.S. Military Deploys LRAD(R) Communications Systems to Assist Earthquake Survivors in Haiti

Defense News ~ SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - 01/26/10) - American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ:ATCO - News), the innovator and distributor of the Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) product line, announced today that the U.S. Military is deploying several LRAD systems in Haiti to assist in communications with earthquake survivors. ATC's lightweight LRAD 100X systems are being used to communicate to survivors gathered around aid stations and LRAD 500X systems are being deployed on helicopters to deliver messages regarding the locations of aid stations and supplies across earthquake damaged areas.
ATC's proprietary LRAD directed sound systems enable military and emergency responder personnel to communicate clearly over distance by broadcasting critical information and instructions in multiple languages to groups and large crowds. LRAD's performance record coupled with military construction standards, have made it the communications system of choice for police departments, security forces and military units around the world. Additional features such as portability and rugged lightweight waterproof casing enable LRAD to be deployed rapidly in any type of environment.
"LRAD's multi-language broadcasts via helicopter quickly provide aid and relief messages to the civilian population that can be clearly heard from the air," remarked ATC's president and CEO, Tom Brown. "LRAD's exceptional capacity to address small and large gatherings of survivors from the air and over distance frees peacekeeping personnel and emergency responders from having to individually provide instructions and directions, allowing them to attend to other critical duties."
