Defense News ~ HERNDON, Va.--January 26, 2010, (BUSINESS WIRE)--LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU and Euronext Paris) dedicated to serving the U.S. government community, announced today it was recently awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the U.S. Army to provide communications technology in support specific operations across Southwest Asia.
The agreement is in support of Project Manager Network Service Center (PM NSC) and Project Director Defense Communication Systems - Southwest Asia (PD DCS-SWA) in its mission within Southwest Asia Theater of Operations, as well as various U.S. locations to support the DCS-SWA Command and Control Communications Center (C4) Commercialization.
LGS already has won three specific task orders under the agreement including two projects at Bagram Airfield to support communications infrastructure as well as one project that will provide a variety of equipment materials at multiple locations at airfields in Kabul and Kandahar.
The BPA was awarded to 16 prime contractors by the U.S. Army Contracting Command - Rock Island Contracting Center (ACC - RICC), and will support a wide range of solutions, including wireless technologies, voice and data solutions, inside/outside plant (ISP/OSP), premise wiring, and technical control facilities over a five-year period.

The BPA provides PD DCS-SWA a new vehicle to address all phases of projects, including technical and program management and analysis, acquisition, engineering, installation, de-installation, relocation, refurbishment, integration, testing, logistical services, training, and authority to purchase any materials or services required to support these tasks. Deliverables under the BPA will provide for terrestrial communications infrastructure within the Central Command (CENTCOM) Theater of Operations for support units, activities or agencies assigned or anticipated to be assigned to these locations.
