“Having the SBA as a strategic partner extends the existing relationship between the Alliance and the SBA,” said Brown. “The agreement strengthens the Alliance’s role in promoting the local veteran business community and our ability to offer one-on-one counseling, roundtable discussions, networking events, and other resources to entrepreneurs throughout the region.”
The California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Alliance is a 501 C 3 non-profit corporation that supports the California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) Program in finding employment for veterans. Additionally, the Alliance is involved in supporting veterans interested in pursuing small business ownership as a method of securing a strong economic future as they transition from a military to civilian livelihood. The Alliance leadership includes a board of directors, an executive officer and the officers of statewide chapters. The SBA-Strategic Alliance memorandum applies to both the California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Alliance and its chapters.
Veterans compose about 17 percent of all small business owners nationwide and veteran-owned firms tend to stay in business longer than non veteran-owned companies, according to SBA’s Office of Advocacy.
