SatMAX and TLC Offer SatMAX Repeaters to Aid Chile

Defense News ~ HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - 03/05/10) - SatMAX Corporation (Pinksheets:SATM - News), a leading global provider of wireless, non-line-of-sight, satellite communications equipment, announced today it is working together with Houston-based TLC Engineering to offer emergency satellite communication repeaters to assist in meeting earthquake-stricken Chile's communications needs. The joint SatMAX-TLC initiative comes on the heels of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's recent delivery of 20 satellite phones to Santiago. The Christian Science Monitor reported that Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has been seeking temporary bridges, field hospitals, satellite phones, generators, water purification systems, field kitchens and dialysis centers.

According to SatNews Daily, in addition to the U.S. response, "the United Nations is sending 45 satellite phones to Chile for officials coordinating earthquake relief efforts and is prepared to send 30 tons of food and other aid if the government gives the green light," said Alicia Barcena, executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

TLC Engineering CEO Tony Council said, "TLC and SatMAX are prepared to provide SatMAX® satellite communications repeaters to assist the Chilean government's disaster recovery effort. These repeaters will allow government officials and relief workers to use their sat-phones indoors and in temporary comm centers. We have reached out to U.S. relief officials to begin this process."

"TLC's disaster recovery experience will be a valuable resource in assisting Chile's recovery efforts. We are happy to be able to support Tony Council's well-organized response to the Chilean crisis," stated SatMAX CEO Don Bresina.

Wireless satellite telephone communications require a direct line-of-sight to the sky to create a link between the handheld satellite phone and the orbiting satellite. This communication link is interrupted when a sat-phone user steps indoors. SatMAX® repeater technology enables satellite communications users to quickly and easily make fully wireless voice and data communications from any non-line-of-sight location. Historically, satellite phones have been limited by their requirement to have line-of-sight access to orbiting satellites, with SatMAX® users now have the ability to access dependable and uninterrupted wireless satellite communications.
