Boeing nets 11 737 orders, two 777 cancellations

CHICAGO, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Boeing Co (BA.N) took orders for 11 new 737 aircraft in the week ended Sept. 1, but two orders for 777 planes were canceled, the company said on Thursday. The changes in the order book for Boeing Commercial Airplanes bring the company's net orders to 70 for 2009. Boeing took 161 orders and 91 cancellations this year.
Turkmenistan Airlines ordered three of the 737 planes in the most recent reporting period. Boeing did not say who ordered the other eight 737s. The company also did not disclose who canceled the two 777 orders.
Boeing and its rival Airbus (EAD.PA) have suffered this year as carriers and air cargo operators grapple with a recession in many parts of the world.
Shares of Boeing were down 21 cents at $48.19 on the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Kyle Peterson; Editing by Lisa Von Ahn)
