LONDON, June 23 (Reuters) - Virgin Atlantic [VA.UL] is in talks with European planemaker Airbus (
EAD.PA) to buy 50 A350 aircraft from 2014, a company spokesman said on Monday.

The spokesman told Reuters it considered the A350 a "strong competitor" to the Boeing 787 (
BA.N). He added it was not yet clear how many of the aircraft would be replacements for older planes.
Virgin earlier said it would take delivery of 10 Airbus A330s in a $ 2.1 billion deal. [ID:nLM711546] (Reporting by John Bowker; Editing by Gary Hill)
