Prior to his current position, Barbalas served as managing director for Andrew Telecommunications (China) Co. Ltd. in Suzhou, China where he helped build the business from a startup to the company's largest global manufacturing facility. He has held positions of increasing responsibility and leadership for various industries, foundations and research institutions in China and in the U.S. Barbalas holds a doctorate and a master's degree in chemistry from Cornell University in New York, and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry fromRose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana.
Barbalas' appointment is effective April 1, 2010.
